The town of Ferndown is known to have a real community feel as independent stores mix with main stream retailers. Costa or The Flying Teapot? Tesco, M&S Food or the local butcher?
It is often spoke about that you don’t actually need to look outside of Ferndown for anything. Even Haskins, the garden centre, is reputed to be the best Christmas shop in the South.
The Minster town of Wimborne is a couple of miles away and Poole, Bournemouth and Southampton are easily accessible. You are close to A31 where it is dual carriageway to the New Forest and the UK motorway network. Obviously there are famous beaches of Sandbanks to go to, with safe watersports in Poole Harbour, the world’s 2nd largest natural harbour. The area has a large cycling community with a favourite destination being to take the Sandbanks chain ferry to explore the Purbeck Hills. And of course Dorset’s Jurassic Coast is a must for walkers. Closer to Victoria House there great walks at West Moors, under a mile away or go to Moors Valley Country Park which offers nature trails, cycle hire, golf and fishing in the Moors Lake. And a must see is Cottesmore Farm Tropical Gardens with its’ giant gunneras, bananas, bamboos and palm trees. The King George V playing field caters for pretty well every sport from boules to skateboarding. To keep fit inside, the Ferndown Leisure Centre has a swimming pool , gym and studio for classes.
Being part of the Bournemouth and Poole conurbation, there are endless eateries. In Ferndown town centre there are great fish ‘n chips at Karsbergs, the Joy Indian restaurant is highly recommended and excellent breakfasts can be had at the Flying Teapot. Bentleys restaurant, part of the Dudsbury Golf Club and Hotel is very popular.
Despite living in one of the most stunning places in the UK, the area is a significant business hub with the headquarters of JP Morgan, Vitality, LV, Sunseeker Marine, Barclays International, the RNLI and Merlin Entertainments all in the conurbation.
A superb home in a great community.
